Step #1: Tooth Numbing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Before your dentist begins the tooth removal treatment, he or she will numb the tooth and the areas surrounding it, so you don\u2019t feel any pain during the procedure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step #2: Tooth Extraction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Once the area is completely numb, your dentist will remove the tooth from its socket. To do this, they will rock it back and forth to widen the space. This allows it to be separated from the ligament. They will then use forceps to grasp it and gently pull it out of the socket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step #3: Socket Closing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Once your tooth is removed, your dentist will close the space where it used to be. If there is any loose bone or infected tissue, this will be removed as well. The socket will then be compressed so it can return to its normal size, and any sharp edges will be rounded off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now your dentist will apply firm pressure to the extraction site with gauze to minimize bleeding. If this is a surgical extraction, the area will be stitched closed to prevent infection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step #4: Recovery<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Recovering from a tooth extraction usually takes a few days. Immediately following the procedure, you should keep the gauze on the site with pressure for 30 to 60 minutes to control the bleeding. If you have any swelling, you can use an ice pack on your face to help reduce it and numb pain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
